Cleaning your Neff Microwave Oven
It is advisable to clean your microwave regularly. A great way of doing this is to put a large bowl in the microwave with about 250 ml (1/2 a pint) of water and squeeze the juice of a lemon into it.
Heat on the maximum setting. The steam should leave any dirt inside the microwave easy to clean, similar to the effects of a
Steam Cleaner as well as smelling lemony fresh.
Confused by Food Instructions not matching the power options on your microwave ?
This is where your arithmetic in school comes in handy. Let us say your dinner says cook for 6 minutes at 650 watts and your microwave only has a setting for 600 or 800. The way to adjust would
be to select the closest setting (in this case 600W) multiply the 6 minutes by 60 to turn it into seconds (=360) Divide by the power setting you are going to use which is 600 (=0.6) then multiply by the suggested
power (650W on the food packaging) to get the adjusted time (0.6 x 650 = 390 seconds = 6 1/2 minutes).
Naturally this should only be used as a guide as different types of microwaves can take different times due to variations in design and function,
food should be piping hot when it is heated in a microwave
Which Dish to cook in
?
Try cooking in circular shaped dishes as food in corners tends to get more intensively
cooked.
Is Microwave Cooking healthy
?
Well, actually yes. Nutrients in most food types break down the longer you heat
them and because you are heating food for far less time in a Microwave those
nutrients are having less time to be able to break down. With vegetables the
thing that actually causes more nutritional loss than anything is boiling in
water ( don't use this as an excuse not to eat boiled vegetables since they do
still hold substantial nutritional value even when boiled)
